The Provincial Government of Palawan distributed 12,480 units of Solar Home System to 86 barangays in seven towns from 2018 until present, in a bid to provide electricity to identified unenergized households in far-flung areas.
The Energy Development Program of the provincial government reported that 984 units were distributed in 15 barangays in Aborlan, 1,766 units for seven barangays in Brooke’s Point, 2,065 units in 11 barangays of Rizal, 1,554 units in nine Quezon barangays, 952 units for 16 barangays in Narra, and 615 units for five barangays in Sofronio Española.
Bataraza has the biggest number of recipients with 4,536 units of Solar Home System intended for 22 barangays.
The provincial government also gave 8 units to Bahay Pag-asa Youth Center in Puerto Princesa.
Engr. Ricardo Rodriguez, Executive Assistant I of the Energy Development Program, said that while more than 12,000 have been distributed by their office since last year until present, some 8,000 units are set for distribution late this year.
The municipalities will identify the beneficiaries/ recipient household who deserve to receive the solar light and accessories.
“Mayroon tayong 12,480 total units distributed then we have 8,000 units na naka standby and ready na rin for distribution within the year,” he said.
