The P175-million newly completed San Vicente District Hospital will be inaugurated today, July 28, 2020, by the Provincial Government of Palawan and the Department of Health (DOH) to give medical emergency access to local residents in San Vicente town and nearby remote barangays.

In a press release, the Provincial Government said that the hospital is a 50-bed facility.

The San Vicente District Hospital is part of the 14 public hospitals implemented in Palawan through funds from the DOH’s Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) in collaboration with the Provincial Government to address the lack of medical facilities in the province.

Aside from San Vicente, 13 other hospitals have been constructed in Coron, Cuyo, Roxas, Taytay, El Nido, Araceli-Dumaran, Aborlan, Narra, Brooke’s Point, Rizal, Bataraza, Quezon and Balabac Island.

Medicare hospitals in Palawan, although open to everyone, give free services to the elderly and children belonging to poor families. The medical care hospital projects are part of the development agenda IHELP.

IHELP stands for Infrastructure, Health, Education, Livelihood, and Protection of the Environment.

The Provincial Government said that last week, equipment for the newly completed hospital equipment has arrived.

“Nitong Hulyo 22 ay dumating na sa lalawigan ang karagdagdang mga bagong hospital equipment. Inaasahan naman na malaki ang maitutulong ng mga ito sa pagtugon sa mga pasyente lalo na ngayong mayroong pandemya,” the Provincial Government said in a statement.
