An American tourist was successfully rescued and medically evacuated on Saturday morning, July 13, after suffering an apparent heart attack while visiting Starfish Island, one of the most frequented tourist destinations in Honda Bay, Puerto Princesa City.
The 76-year-old male tourist from San Francisco, California, was reported to be experiencing symptoms of cardiac distress at around 10:40 a.m., prompting an emergency call to the Coast Guard Station Central Palawan (CGSCP).
Without delay, the CGSCP dispatched High-Speed Response Boat HSRB-020 to the scene. Coast Guard personnel, along with medical responders, quickly reached the island, stabilized the patient, and transported him back to Honda Bay Wharf.
Upon arrival, an ambulance was already waiting to bring the tourist to Adventist Hospital Palawan for further medical treatment.
