Twenty five residents have successfully completed the 23-day training on scaffolding on August 2, 2025 in Barangay Rio Tuba. In a simple graduation ceremony held on August 2, 2025 at Comrel Information Center in Townsite, Rio Tuba, Mr. Laurence Amores, the section head of Community Relations of Coral Bay Nickel Corporation (CBNC) stressed the importance of the training in enhancing the participants’ employment opportunities. “You now have a good chance of finding work outside of Palawan especially when the demand for skilled personnel in Rio Tuba eventually decreases,” Amores said.

The training which lasted for 23 days was conducted by the Technical Development Center and Career Enhancement Inc., an institution accredited by Technical Education Skills & Development Authority (TESDA). The center is optimistic about the future of the successful completers saying that scaffolders are in demand not only in the Philippines but even in abroad. “We are glad to be part of your journey. Through this training, we are helping you access better job opportunities,” said the trainer.

Punong Barangay of Rio Tuba, Arman T. Gamo expressed his happiness that all participants completed the training. He congratulated the graduates and wish them well in applying their newly-acquired skills in the near future. “Use the skills you gained from this training to build a better future for yourselves and your families. I am proud of your achievement,” said Gamo.

Participants are beaming with happiness during the ceremony. One participant said, “Masaya po ako na natapos ko ang training. Ngayon po, meron na akong skill na pwede kong mailagay sa aking bio-data pag mag-aaplay ng trabaho,” (I am very happy to have completed the training. Now, I have a skill that I can include in my resume when applying for the job,” said one trainee.

After graduation, the participants will undergo assessment training from TESDA to obtain their NC II certification.

Coral Bay Nickel Corporation funded the training through its SDMP for Barangay Rio Tuba using the company’s Social Development and Management Program fund for Barangay Rio Tuba. The scaffolding training is one of the skills development trainings planned under the SDMP of Rio Tuba aimed at equipping residents with sustainable livelihood skills to help them become self-reliant even beyond CBNCs operations.
