Mayor Gerandy Danao announced that road rehabilitation and clearing operation will continue until all streets and major roads are paved in the southern town of Narra.
“Lahat ‘yan susuyurin natin. Hindi man natin agad-agad mapasemento, at least kahit papaano may makikita silang pagbabago,” Danao said in an interview last Tuesday with Palawan Daily News.
Less than two months after taking his seat as chief executive, Danao has started to impose major changes in road rehabilitation and clearing operation within his town.
Danao said that the road rehabilitation originally started days after he was seated into position and that he was conducting barangay visitation and monitoring to ensure that roads which are being complained of by citizens will be fixed as soon as possible.
“Nagsimula tayo parang two days after ko maupo. Nakitaan natin ng reklamo ‘yung mga daanana partikular sa mga malalayo nating barangay, ‘yan ang inuna nating tugunan ng pansin,” Danao said.
It can be recalled that some of Narra’s townsfolk have suffered immense calamity when a rainstorm hit the town last August 3, damaging several houses and business establishments.
This, along with present sewerage problems triggered the administration to pursue its road rehabilitation in all parts of the municipality.
Numerous citizens have expressed sentiments and uploaded photos hoping the local mayor’s office might notice their need of road rehabilitation, worried that it might get worse especially now that it’s already rainy season.
“Kawawa mga bata napaka-putik ng kalsada, sana masulosyunan na,” Mary Jane Ramos, a netizen said.
Presently, the rehabilitation is going on in various areas in Barangay Antipuluan and Barangay Dumanguena and will soon be felt in Narra’s central barangay.
“Konting pasensiya lang. Antay-antay lang tayo. Ngayon inaayos na ‘yung sa Dumanguena at Antipuluan. Tuloy-tuloy na ‘yan mula doon pababa na dito sa Poblacion hanggang sa dulong barangay natin sa Sur,” Danao said.
