Naging matagumpay ang isinagawang Livelihood Exchange Conference and Exhibit 2019 noong ika-25 ng Hunyo na isinagawa sa Citystate Asturias Hotel, Puerto Princesa City. Ang Gawain ay pinangasiwaan ng ICT Councils of Mindanao and Palawan katuwang ang Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Palawan, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) MIMAROPA, Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) at Puerto Princesa City Government.

Tinalakay sa Plenary Sessions ang ICT Industry Growth in the Countryside na tinalakay nina Regional Director DICT-LC3 Cheryl Ortega, Mr. Roger Pardede, Head of Regulatory Management Division – Telkom Indonesia at Dr. Vanessa Teo, Founder/CEO ng AgromeIQ (Brunei), gayundin ang paksa sa ang pagpapalawak ng BIMP-EAGA Startups and Innovation at ang pagpapalakas ng Digital Transformation sa Tourism Sector ng Palawan. Ang nasabing aktibidad ay dinaluhan ng mga partisipante mula pribadong sektor, innovators, ICT practitioners, government employees at major Telecommunications Company.

Sa kaugnay na gawain ay nakatanggap ng pagkilala ang Pilipinas sa kakatapos na 7th Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) ICT Cluster Meeting noong ika-26 ng Hunyo na isinagawa sa Puerto Princesa City.

Pinuri ng mga bansang miyembro ng sub-regional cooperation ang programa ng bansa na may kaugnayan sa Information and Communications Technology kabilang ang Tech4Ed – isang national digital inclusion initiatives na kung saan ay magbibigay ng e-government at ICT-enabled services sa komunidad na mayroong minimal access sa information at government services, at ang Pipol Konek o ang free Wi-Fi Internet Access sa lahat ng pampublikong lugar.

Sa kasalukuyan, mayroong mahigit 3,000 Tech4ED Centers sa bansa kung saan nasa 1000 Centers ang matatagpuan sa Palawan at Mindanao habang ang Pipol Konek ay mayroong 2,400 live sites available nationwide at 363 dito ay matatagpuan sa Palawan at Mindanao.

Ipinamalas din ng Pilipinas ang project proposal nito na “Cross Border Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) System Integration” na layong mapatatag ang sistema sa disaster response at public safety.

“The Philippines extends its admiration to our friends from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia and Malaysia, for trailblazing technology innovations, especially in broadband ecosystem development, advancing the state of telecommunications, and disaster management practices,” ani DICT Acting Secretary, Eliseo M. Rio.
