In a bid to further strengthen good governance practices and promote effective leadership, representatives from two prestigious organizations, the Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA) and the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD), convened with officials of the Palawan Provincial Government.

The meeting, led by Founder/Chairman Emeritus Dr. Jesus Estanislao and hosted by Governor V. Dennis M. Socrates, took place on August 22, 2023, within the dignified premises of the Governor’s Conference Room at the provincial capitol building.

The Institute for Solidarity in Asia, known for its commitment to fostering positive change through good governance, engaged in insightful discussions with Palawan’s local leadership. The organization, operating as a non-profit entity, shared a wealth of knowledge regarding their best practices, specifically in the context of organizational and governmental management.

One of their key focal points was the Performance Governance System (PGS), an innovative and comprehensive framework designed to enhance various aspects of governance.

“We would like to build a solidarity platform for the province of Palawan…Through our work, we aim to build our shared vision where every government institution delivers and every citizen participates and prospers. ISA works closely with national government agencies, local government units, hospitals, and schools to inspire change through good governance,” said Dr. Estanislao, emphasizing their commitment to nurturing collaboration and change through effective governance.

In addition to these valuable insights, Dr. Estanislao shared his expertise in topics that hold immense importance for economic growth.

He touched upon the nuances of export economy dynamics, the significance of foreign investment, and the fundamentals of macro-economics. These areas, he noted, play pivotal roles in driving economic progress and expansion.

Among the attendees present during this enriching engagement were Provincial Information Officer Atty. Christian Jay Cojamco, Office of the Governor Chief-of-Staff Ceasar Sammy Magbanua, Provincial Tourism Promotions and Development Officer Maribel Buñi, Provincial Engineer Aireen Laguisma, Provincial Planning and Development Office OIC Sharlene Vilches, Provincial Gender and Development Office Head Richard Winston Socrates, Provincial Employment Service Office OIC Orphy Ordinario, Atty. Vicente Escala from the Provincial Legal Office, and PCSDS Acting Director Niño Estoya.

Their active participation underscored the importance of this collaborative endeavor in advancing the province’s governance standards and growth prospects.

As Palawan continues to evolve, such collaborations serve as catalysts for positive change, inspiring a promising future for both the province and its residents.
