To bolster environmental and natural resources regulations in Palawan, the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB), in collaboration with the Mining and Quarry Regulatory Program (MQRP) of the Provincial Government and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) MIMAROPA, conducted a “Deputation Training” for Environment and Natural Resources Officers (ENROs).
The training took place in De Reos, Barangay San Pedro, Puerto Princesa.
40 individuals, comprising the PMRB-MQRP Monitoring and Enforcement Staff and employees of the Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (CENRO) from various municipalities, participated in the event.
The primary objective of the training was to enhance the knowledge of these officers about deputation as deputized ENROs, specifically focusing on the proper procedures for apprehending individuals violating quarry and mining regulations, as well as the correct handling of confiscated quarry resources in accordance with existing MGB policies.
The training covered various topics including the Legal Basis of the Deputation of ENROs for Mines, Salient Features of RA Nos. 7942 and 7076, Permits for the Extraction, Removal, and Disposition of SAG and Quarry Materials, Permits for Transporting SAG and Quarry Materials, Mineral Processing and Certificate of Accreditation, and New Mining Policies and Combating Illegal Mining.
These subjects were expertly discussed by Atty. Deniel Salvador B. Morillo, Engr. Ivan F. Macandog, and G. Bren Miguel U. Carolino of MGB-MIMAROPA.
The event received personal attendance from Provincial PESO OIC Orphy C. Ordinario, representing Governor Dennis M. Socrates, and MQRP Program Director Rowel M. Magarce.
Furthermore, the training concluded with an open forum, where participants had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussions.
