The provincial government of Palawan has launched a tax amnesty information campaign across the municipalities of Aborlan, Narra, and Sofronio Española in an effort to boost real property tax collections and educate landowners about the benefits of the Real Property Valuation and Assessment Reform Act (RPVARA).
From May 26 to 28, representatives from the Office of the Provincial Treasurer (OPT) conducted a series of public orientations and community visits to explain how property owners with unpaid taxes can settle their dues without incurring penalties or interest until July 2026.
The initiative targets areas where low compliance with real property taxation continues to affect the province’s revenue performance. Attendees included school principals, teachers, and barangay officials—many of whom were hearing about the law’s provisions for the first time.
Beyond community briefings, OPT personnel also delivered final delinquency notices and reminder letters in Sofronio Española, particularly to property owners whose lands had been declared forfeited following a public auction on September 12, 2024. They were reminded of their right to redeem these properties before the one-year redemption period expires.
