The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) demonstrated its commitment to diaspora engagement and sustainable development by attending the “Future Forum 2023” held in Brussels on October 17-18.

The conference, organized by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and the European Union Global Diaspora Facility (EUDiF), focused on fostering partnerships and engagement within the diaspora community.

The event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders within the diaspora development ecosystem, including diaspora organizations, partner countries, non-governmental entities, the European Union (EU), and its Member-States.

The Future Forum 2023 served as a platform for dynamic and practice-focused discussions, addressing current and future policies and initiatives related to diaspora engagement.

It also provided opportunities for meaningful networking and partnerships, emphasizing the potential of youth diaspora.

During the conference, engaging lightning talks highlighted diaspora activities and successful partnership stories in the Philippines, with a specific emphasis on Palawan.

This included the remarkable collaboration between EUDiF, diaspora experts, PCSDS, Palawan State University (PSU), and Local Government Units (LGUs).

This collaboration, which began in 2022, aimed to enhance knowledge and skills among local stakeholders to address environmental sustainability and climate adaptation.

Since 2019, ICMPD has been instrumental in implementing the European Union Global Diaspora Facility (EUDiF), a global platform for knowledge exchange and operational support.

EUDiF facilitates and promotes diaspora collaboration for development, creating a conducive environment for international cooperation and knowledge sharing among diaspora communities and their partners.
