The town of San Vicente, Palawan achieved a significant milestone with its recently concluded Longest Coastal Clean Up event held on Monday, September 18.
This initiative was led by Megaworld San Vicente Coast Town, Inc., with support from the Local Government of San Vicente, under the leadership of Mayor Amy R. Alvarez.

The event spanned five barangays: Kemdeng, Poblacion, New Agutaya, San Isidro, and Alimanguan.

Mayor Alvarez emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness in their town, which is renowned as one of the nation’s top tourist destinations.
“For us, we really want San Vicente clean and green, not only here but also throughout Palawan and the entire country,” Mayor Alvarez said.

The coastal clean up saw an overwhelming response from the community, with more than a thousand dedicated volunteers participating in the event. Their combined efforts led to the impressive collection of nearly one ton of waste, consisting of various forms of marine debris and litter.

The evenf not only contributed to the immediate beautification of San Vicente’s coastline but also served as an educational platform, raising awareness about the importance of responsible waste disposal and sustainable living practices.

With its claim to fame as home to the longest beach in the Philippines, stretching an impressive 14.7 kilometers along its coastline, this town continuously captures the hearts of tourists from around the globe.

Tourism is a vital source of income for the people of San Vicente. It provides jobs, sustains businesses, and fuels economic growth.

When visitors come to explore the longest beach in the Philippines, they bring more than just their enthusiasm; they bring economic opportunities that support the town’s development.

Therefore, ensuring that the coastline remains untarnished and inviting is not just an environmental concern but an economic imperative.
