The regional office of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) based in Calapan City has announced that they have improved the delivery of fishery livelihood trainings through online platform by introducing new trainings, specifically for Milkfish (Bangus) and Shrimps.

The initiative is intended to help fisherfolk and fish farmers in the region, increase their production of freshwater and marine products.

Last month, they announced that they have introduced innovations in conducting fishery livelihood trainings through online platform or E-learning specifically for the Training on Tilapia Culture and Management.

This time, aware of the needs of fisherfolks in Palawan and other parts of the region, engaged in fisheries, the agency finds it necessary to push for the inclusion of other fishery-livelihood trainings in E-Learning.

“Ang BFAR MIMAROPA Region sa pangunguna ng Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Division (RFTFCD) at pakikipagtulungan ng Fisheries Production Support and Services Division (FPSSD) ay magbubukas muli ng panibagong batch ng e-Learning patungkol sa pag-aalaga at pagpaparami ng bangus at hipon,” BFAR announced.

They will hold their training on Milkfish Culture and Management and Shrimp Culture and Management on July 23, 2020.

Culture of milkfish (bangus) in ponds may be in shallow or deep water systems. Shallow water culture is practiced mainly in the country. Shrimp culture or farming on the other hand, is an aquaculture business that exists in either a marine or freshwater environment, producing shrimp or prawns for human consumption.
