Kanselasyon sa prangkisa ng 17 electric cooperatives kabilang ang PALECO, binawi na ng DOE

Pormal ng binawi ng Department of Energy (DOE) ang rekomendasyon ng Kongreso na pagkansela sa prangkisa ng mga electric cooperatives na sinasabing humina ng operasyon sa kanilang mga lugar.

Ayon kay Energy Spokesperson Usec. Wimpy Fuentebella, inaprubahan ni Sec. Alfonso Cusi ang withdrawal sa kanselasyon ng mga prangkisa para bigyang daan ang pag-aaral sa estado ng mga ito.

Kasama sa kanilang mga tutukuyin ngayon ang compliance at pagsunod ng mga ito sa mandato ng operasyon.

Titingnan din ng Energy department ang posibilidad ng korapsyon at iba pang internal problems ng bawat opisina, gaya ng sa Davao del Norte Electric Cooperative.

Ayon pa kay Fuentebella, sakop ng mga pag-aaral na kanilang gagawin ang increase sa missionary subsidies sa Occidental Mindoro, Catanduanes, Marinduque at Tablas Island sa Romblon.

Kabilang narin sa kanilang mga gagawin ay ang paghingi sa National Electrification Administration ng performance report.

Matatandaang inirekomenda ng Kamara ang pagpapasara sa mga naturang kooperatiba dahil sa low performance output umano ng mga ito:
-Palawan Electric Cooperative, Inc. (PALECO)
-Albay Electric Cooperative Inc. (ALECO)
-Abra Electric Cooperative (ABRECO)
-Pampanga III Electric Cooperative, Inc. (PELCO III)
-Occidental Mindoro Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ORMECO)
-Camarines Sur III Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CASURECO III)
-Masbate Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MASELCO)
-First Catanduanes Electric Cooperative, Inc. (FICELCO)
-Ticao Island Electric Cooperative, Inc. (TISELCO).
-Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ZAMCELCO)
-Davao del Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (DANELCO)
-Basilan Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BASELCO)
-Sulu Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SULECO)
-Tawi-Tawi Electric Cooperative, Inc. (TAWELCO)
-Maguindanao Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MAGELCO)
-Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LASURECO)
