Marble quarry site sa Romblon ipinasara

ROMBLON — Ang Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Mimaropa ay lumiham kay Governor Eduardo C. Firmalo na nag-aatas na ipasara ang marble crushing plant ng Alad Mining and Development Corporation.

Batay sa inilabas na Cease and Desist Order ng MGB Mimaropa laban sa Alad Mining and Development Corporation , kinakitaan ito ng maraming paglabag gaya ng kakulangan ng Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) kung saan ito ay nag-o-operate ng lagpas sa 2.8851 ektarya na nakasaad sa kanilang aplikasyon.

Hindi rin tugma ang lokasyon ng quarry site sa kanilang inaplayan lugar, lumagpas din ito sa allowable annual extraction rate na nakasaad sa kanilang ECC, umabot rin sa P50 milyon ang declared project cost nito na paglabag Section71 of DAO No. 2010-21 na dapat ay hindi umabot sa P10 milyon ang project cost at hindi rin kumuha ng Permit for Electrical and Mechanical Installations ang naturang kumpanya sa tanggapan ng MGB.

Dahil sa mga nakitang paglabag ng Alad Mining, ipinag-utos ng MGB Mimaropa sa Provincial Mining and Regulatory Board na agad na ipatigil ang pagmimina ng marmol sa bulubunking lugar ng Sitio Caray-caray, Bgy. Agtongo, Romblon.

Magugunita na dumating kamakailan sa bayan ng Romblon ang mga kinatawan ng Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) MiMaRoPa kasama ang mga tauhan ng Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) upang mag-inspeksiyon sa marble quarry site ng Alad Mining and Development Corporation dahil sa pagtutol o reklamong ipinadala ng grupong AKKMA ng Mahigugmaon at Nagkakaisang Romblomanon.

Batay sa resulta ng inspeksiyon at imbestigasyon, malaking bahagi na ng kabundukan sa nabanggit na mga barangay ang wala ng puno o kalbo na at sira na ang kabundukan dulot ng pagmimina ng marmol.

Pinakakansela ng MGB sa Romblon Provincial Government ang quarry permit na inisyu nito para sa Alad Mining and Development Corporation dahil sa hindi pagtalima sa terms and conditions na nakasaad sa permit at ECC.

Kaugnay nito, noong Lunes ay naglabas ng kautusan ang punong lalawigan na nag-aatas sa Provincial Mining and Regulatory Board (PMRB) na ipatigil ang operasyon o ipasara ang lugar na pinagmiminahan ng marmol ng nasabing kumpanya.

Dahil sa pagpapatigil sa operasyon ng Alad Mining, nasa 162 pamilya na manggagawa dito ang nawalan ng trabaho na binigyan ng bigas ng pamahalaang bayan ng Romblon bilang paunang tulong sa mga ito.

Pinulong na rin ni Gov. Firmalo ang mga apektadong pamilya ng pagkapasara ng minahan upang mabigyan ng livelihood assistance at pinag-usapan ang pangmatagalang solusyon upang magkaroon ng pang-araw araw na kabuhayan. (DMM/PIA-MIMAROPA/Romblon)
