Dengvaxia, bahagyang nakaapekto sa immunization program sa Palawan — DOH

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — Aminado ang Department of Health (DOH) Mimaropa na may bahagyang epekto ang naging kontrobersiyal na Dengvaxia vaccination program ng kagawaran sa kanilang community immunization sa Palawan.

“Sa una, nakaapekto talaga ang isyu ng Dengvaxia sa routine, di lang kasi siguro na-elaborate ng husto, pero naipaliwanag naman natin agad,” ani Ma. Teresita Du, nurse coordinator ng DOH-Mimaropa sa “Kapihan sa PIA”.

Ngunit sinabi din ni Du, nurse coordinator ng Expanded Program of Immunization (EPI) ng kagawaran, na unti-unti na itong nauunawaan ng mga magulang kung kaya naiibsan na rin ang kanilang pangamba sa epekto ng mga bakuna.

Aniya pa, hindi rin kabilang ang Mimaropa sa mga recepients ng Dengvaxia.

“Una hindi tayo nakatanggap ng Dengvaxia at ito naman the vaccine itself is safe, lahat naman ng vaccine natin ay safe, mas malaki ang benefits na makukuha natin instead sa risk natin kung nabakunahan tayo,” pahayag ni Du.

Ayon pa kay Du, sa loob ng apat na taong immunization program ng DOH, malawak na ang komunidad na naabot ng programa sa lalawigan bagamat hindi pa naabot ang 95-100 porsiyentong target na mabakunahan.

Puspusan naman ngayon ang school-based immunization ng DOH na isasagawa sa Palawan ngayong darating na Agosto kung saan makikinabang dito ang mga pampublikong eskuwelahan.

Magbabakuna ang DOH sa mga mag-aaral sa grade one ng measles-containing vaccine at tetanus-diphtheria (TD). Bibigyan naman ng measles-rubella at TD vaccines ang mga estudyante ng grade seven.

Hinikayat din ng DOH ang mga magulang na dalhin sa mga Rural Health Unit(RHU) ang kanilang mga anak na di nabakunahan sa paaralan lalo na kung pirmado ang kanilang pahintulot. (aj/PDN)
