Ipinagdiriwang ng mga taga-Narra ang ika-50 Founding Anniversary na may temang “Narra: Limampung taon mula ng legal na maitatag, patuloy na susulong at magiging matatag.”

Tatakbo sa buong buwan ng Hunyo ang pagdiriwang kung saan magkakaroon ng iba’t ibang aktibidad at selebrasyon.

Ibinahagi ni outgoing Mayor Lucy Demaala sa isang press conference na naganap noong Hunyo 6, na mas matutuunan nila ng pansin ang pagdiriwang ng anibersaryo dahil naipagpaliban ang Baragatan ngayong taon dahil ito’y salungat sa selebrasyon.

“Kung titignan natin, nagkaroon kami ng conflict sa provincial government sa Baragatan that time so medyo naiiwan yung celebration namin dito but this time I’m very thankful na wala tayong Baragatan so we can concentrate on our 50 years’ golden anniversary celebration,” saad ni Demaala.

Ang pangalan ng Narra ay nanggaling sa National Resettlement and Rehabilitation Administration na Proyecto ng national government noong Hunyo 16, 1954 na dating sakop ng Munisipalidad ng Aborlan mula sa dati nitong panglan na Panacan para sa mga resettlers sa buong bansa at nagging muncipalidad noong Hunyo 21, 1969 sa ilalim ng Republic Act 5642 na ini-akda ni noo’y Congressman Ramon V. Mitra Jr at nilagdaan ng dating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos.

Ngayon ang Narra ay may 81,179 na bilang ng populasyon na binubuon ng 23 na barangay at may lawak na 83,229.83 hectares.

Bukod dito ang Narra ay nagging sentro ng pagsasaka ng palay sa buong lalawigan ng Palawan at tinawag itong “Rice Granary of Palawan” at nagkakaroon ng selebrasyon bilang pasasalamat sa magandang ani tuwing buwan ng Oktubre.
