The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Palawan, together with key partners, is taking a significant step toward strengthening the local dairy industry through a training program designed and tailored fit to the needs and demands of the industry.
The agency said that this year, they meet with dairy industry players and stakeholders, including Patio Agricultural Farm, TESDA Provincial Director Gerardo A. Mercado, representatives from the Department of Agriculture-Palawan Research Experiment Station Dairy Production & Development Center (DA-PRES-DPDC), Aloha House, Inc., and ASEA Greens Technical Vocational Center, Inc.
“The discussion focused on evaluating the readiness of Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs), addressing potential challenges, and identifying solutions for successful implementation. To support this initiative, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) will be forged, with DA-PRES offering its facilities in Brgy. Irawan to supplement TVI resources. TVIs, in turn, will work on establishing trainers and an assessment center to ensure accessibility,” TESDA said.
Once implemented, Milking Operation NC II will help boost local milk production, lessen reliance on imported dairy products, and promote sustainable farming. It will also create new livelihood opportunities for farmers and entrepreneurs, strengthen the dairy industry, and support food security and economic growth in Palawan. Following this, the group will also work on developing Artificial Insemination (Large Ruminants) NC II, which will further enhance livestock breeding, improve farm productivity, and provide more opportunities for those in the agricultural sector.
Milking Operations NC II is a program offered by TESDA designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge needed for various tasks in dairy farming, including pre-milking, milking, and post-milking operations.
