Puerto Princesa, Palawan: On Monday, November 12, 2018, the Cause for Canonization of BlessedIvan Merz, Inc. through its apostolate ‘Tour of Sacred Relics’ and SM City Puerto Princesa launch the solemn exhibit of the sacred relics of the Popes together with St. Pio of Pietrelcina. Entitled as “THE POPES AND PADRE PIO,” the exhibit features various relics like the cloth with blood of Padre Pio, Bone of St. Peter the Apostle, the Bones of Pope-Saints, Skullcap of St. John Paul II, and objects that were used by Pope Francis during his visit in the Philippines.
In the Catholic Church, relics are sacred remains of the Saints. The relic could be first class, remains from the body of the saint, or second class relic, objects that were used by the saint.
The Tour of Sacred Relics and SM Supermalls work together to enrich the spiritual life of the SMEmployees and their clients. The Tour of Sacred Relics goes around the country since 2003 to visit churches, chapels, private and government instiutions and homes for free to bless and heal lives through the Sacred Relics. They have a small chapel in Marikina City called “The Blessed Ivan Merz Reliquarium” that holds more than 1,000 sacred relics and considered as the largest collection in Metro Manila and second in the Philippines after the Chapel of Holy Relics in Cebu.
The Catholic faithful of Palawan are encouraged to visit this rare and first of its kind exhibit in the island that hopes to highlight the beauty of the Catholic Faith as it ends the Year of the Clergy and Consecrated Persons.
The Popes and Padre Pio Relics Exhibit will run until November 18, 2018 and is open during mall hours, admission is free. The exhibit is located at the Lower Ground Floor (near SM Appliance Center), SM City Puerto Princesa. (P.R)
