Some informal settlers within the area of responsibility of the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) have not yet vacated the place, according to reports.
Through a Facebook post, IPPF said that they discovered that informal settlers did not follow the order to vacate being given to them prior to their latest visit.
“[They] have not yet vacated the area upon receipt of notice to vacate which was served 15 days prior to said security inspection,” the post says.
Last June 16, the Corrections Inspector and selected Corrections Officers of Inagawan Sub-Prison headed to kilometer 40, at Sitio Tacduan, Inagawan to validate the compliance of said informal settlers. The order states that they have to self-demolish their makeshift shanties that they illegally built in the forested area of Tacduan.
The illegal occupants were further reminded to vacate and fences made of barbed wire and bamboo poles were also installed in the area to avoid further encroachment.
