Sa kabila ng pagbuo ng isang bagong bagyo sa labas ng Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), nanatiling ang southwest monsoon o habagat pa rin ang pangunahing pinagmumulan ng mga pag-ulan sa malaking bahagi ng bansa, ayon sa Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Ayon sa advisory ng Pagasa nitong Linggo ng gabi, Hunyo 22, isang low pressure area (LPA) na matagal nang mino-monitor sa labas ng PAR ang tuluyan nang naging tropical depression bandang alas-8 ng gabi. Ang naturang sistema ay huling namataan sa layong 2,560 kilometro silangan-hilagang silangan ng dulong hilagang bahagi ng Luzon. Ito ay kumikilos pa-kanluran hilagang-kanluran sa bilis na 10 kilometro bawat oras, taglay ang lakas ng hanging umaabot sa 55 kilometro bawat oras at bugso hanggang 70 kilometro bawat oras.

Gayunman, nilinaw ng Pagasa na wala pa itong direktang epekto sa bansa sa ngayon.
Sa pinakabagong weather briefing ng Pagasa, sinabi ni weather specialist Veronica Torres na, “Hindi ito inaasahang papasok ng PAR—for now.” Ibig sabihin, habang binabantayan ang galaw ng nasabing sistema, hindi ito itinuturing na banta sa anumang bahagi ng bansa sa kasalukuyan.

Sa halip, ang habagat ang patuloy na nagdadala ng mga pag-ulan sa iba’t ibang panig ng Pilipinas. Ayon kay Torres, inaasahang magpapaulan ang habagat sa Metro Manila, kanlurang bahagi ng Central Luzon at Southern Luzon, maging sa ilang bahagi ng Visayas at Mindanao.

Para naman sa natitirang bahagi ng Luzon, inaasahan ang pangkalahatang maaliwalas na panahon na may posibilidad ng localized thunderstorms sa hapon at gabi.

Habang patuloy ang monitoring ng Pagasa sa galaw ng tropical depression sa Pacific Ocean, pinayuhan ang publiko na manatiling updated sa mga opisyal na bulletin, lalo na kung magbabago ang direksyon ng bagyo o makakaapekto ito sa habagat.
