As Tropical Depression “Samuel” traverses through Southern Leyte as of this writing and is projected to pass through MIMAROPA in the next couple of hours, Regional Director Eugene G. Cabrera strongly advises Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Councils (MDRRMCs) to ensure precautionary evacuation of communities identified as high risk areas.
In the memorandum of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council signed by Director Cabrera, “No Sail Policy” of all fishing vessels and privately owned seacrafts in areas expected to be affected by weather disturbance have to be strictly observed. “Let us continuously aim for zero casualty,” Director Cabrera indicated in the memo.
At 10:00 am today, the center of Tropical Depression “Samuel” was estimated based on all available data at 335 km East of Maasin City, Southern Leyte. Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal #1 is raised over Southern Oriental Mindoro, Southern Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, Northern Palawan including Cuyo Island and Calamian Group of Islands.
