Typhoon ‘Tisoy’ maintains its westward heading towards Bicol Peninsula

Typhoon “Tisoy”, also known as Kammuri is maintaining its westward heading towards Bicol Peninsula with a maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph, as of 2 AM today, December 2, 2019.

According to the PAGASA Severe Weather Bulletin No. 7, Typhoon Tisoy was located based on all available data at 445 km East of Virac, Catandanues and is moving West at 20 kph.

Affected Areas with Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 include Quezon including Polilo Islands, Marinduque, Romblon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate including Ticao and Burias Island, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Biliran.

Heavy rainfall outlook is expected today until this afternoon with intermittent to occasionally heavy rains over Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Northern Cebu, Dinagat Islands and Siargao Island.

Residents in the aforementioned areas, especially those living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to flooding and rain-induced landslides, are advised to take appropriate actions, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates, especially the Thunderstorm or Rainfall Advisories and Heavy Rainfall Warnings to be issued by PAGASA Regional Services Divisions.

“TISOY” is forecast to make landfall over Catanduanes or Albay between tonight and tomorrow early morning.
