The Board of Regents of Western Philippine University will soon convene to select the new president from the three applicants that will take over the post of Dr. Elsa Manarpaac, as her term will end this coming February 22, 2020.

A special Search Committee was formed earlier this February to conduct interview and public forum for the three applicants.

The said group was headed by Mauyon Parish Priest Fr. Ricardo Sta. Cruz along with Businessman Lui Oliva, Commision on Higher Education Representative Lito Alisuag and Dr. Ruth Kutat of WPU.

Fr. Sta Cruz said that they will present the three applicants to the Board on Feb 18, and it’s up to the members of the Board to decide, which of these applicants will have the chance to be the new University President who will serve the 4-year term.

The three applicants are Dr. Romeo Lerom, Dr. Lota Creencia and Dr. Julie Hope Timoteo P. Evina , all from Palawan.

Dr. Manarpaac started her term last 2013, but her term is extended for three more years.  According to a source, the outgoing president will take a rest for one year after the new president takes oath of office.

She already applied as Professor 5 in the said University to continue teaching at WPU Aborlan Campus.
