The two cathedrals under the two Apostolic Vicariates of the Province of Palawan formally opened their Jubilee doors yesterday, as the country celebrates the 500th anniversary of the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines.
The Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa (AVPP), led by Bishop Socrates Mesiona, opened yesterday the jubilee door of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral (ICC) in Puerto Princesa City. The ICC Parish and the St. Joseph Marello Parish in Sitio Sabang, Bgy. Cabayugan, to be tentatively opened next week, are included in the roster of 500 Pilgrim Churches in the country.
The Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay (AVT) likewise opened the jubilee door of St. Joseph The Worker Cathedral Parish in Poblacion, Taytay led by Bishop-Emeritus Edgardo S. Juanich yesterday.
Meanwhile, the other churches under AVT that have been declared as Jubilee Churches are St. Isidore the Worker Parish in the Municipality of Roxas; St. Francis Assissi Parish, El Nido; St. John The Baptist Parish, Poblacion, Dumaran; St. Augustine Parish, Cuyo; and the St. Augustine Parish in Coron.
The historic event, simultaneously conducted in different parts of the country, was witnessed and participated by parishioners and Filipino Catholic believers.
