Mayor Lucilo Bayron of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, has a bold and ambitious vision for the city’s future.

During the Infrastructure Exhibit hosted by the City Engineering and Architecture Office on Friday, Bayron revealed his futuristic plans of constructing cable cars, a planetarium building, and the biggest convention center in the country.

The projects aim to improve the quality of life of the people in Puerto Princesa, boost the city’s tourism industry, and strengthen its economy.

Bayron said that he aims on building the biggest convention center in the country and make Puerto Princesa as the “Convention Capital of the Philippines.”
“Another vision is to make Puerto Princesa the convention capital of the Philippines. Medyo matayog ang pangarap na ito pero alam ko, puwede nating marealized ito. We have areas in Santa Lucia environmental estate and dito banda sa Quito area. We will build two convention centers, ‘yung isa 20,000 ‘yung isa 7,000 and then sa likod ng mga convention centers, mga hotels,” Bayron said.

The convention center will be a world-class facility that can accommodate a vast number of attendees. It will be the perfect venue for international conferences, seminars, and other events that will attract both local and foreign visitors.

The convention center will not only promote tourism but also create job opportunities for the people of Puerto Princesa.

Another exciting project that Bayron shared was the construction of the cable cars project. It will serves as an innovative transportation system at will provide a unique and picturesque experience for both locals and tourists alike.

“I like to tell you, itong dalawang area na ‘yan, Quito at Santa Lucia environmental estate, will be connected by a cable car. This would be the first cable car transportation in the country,” Bayron said.

The cable cars will traverse the city’s scenic areas, offering a breathtaking view of the city’s natural beauty. This mode of transportation is also eco-friendly which aligns with the city’s efforts to preserve its environment and promote sustainable tourism.

Lastly, Bayron is pushing forward the construction of a planetarium building.

“To establish a planetarium for the young people of Puerto Princesa. Mayroon po tayong ka-deal, ‘yung Goto Corporation, a Japanese corporation. The city of Puerto Princesa will construct a planetarium building. Sabi ng ating architect, it may cost P50M, pero its a building na pag dumaan ang mga tao, mapapatingin sa building na ‘yan. And then lahat ng ipapalabas, konsepto, manggagaling sa Goto corporation, its for the young people in Puerto Princesa para ma expose sila sa science,” Bayron said.

The planetarium will serves as an educational and entertainment center that will showcase the wonders of the universe.

It will feature a state-of-the-art dome theater, interactive exhibits, and a space science laboratory. The planetarium aims to spark curiosity and inspire the younger generation to pursue science and technology.

Mayor Bayron’s recognizes the potential of the city and is determined to make it a prime tourist destination in the country.

The projects are not only designed to attract tourists but also to benefit the people of Puerto Princesa. These projects are expected to create employment opportunities, promote education, and improve the quality of life of the city’s residents.

The construction of cable cars, planetarium, and the biggest convention center in the Philippines is a massive undertaking, but with the city administration, the cooperation of the city’s residents, and the support of the community, it is definitely achievable.

The projects are expected to put Puerto Princesa on the map as a city that is not afraid to dream big and take bold steps towards progress and development.
