A local netizen at Las Cabanas Beach Resort in El Nido believed she had a chance encounter with none other than “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe.
However, it turned out to be a mistake.
Hazel Florendo, the unsuspecting fan, shared her excitement on Facebook claiming that she had spotted Daniel Radcliffe enjoying the sun and the beach at the popular destination.
She even posted pictures of herself and another resort staff member posing with the supposed British actor.
The Las Cabanas Beach Resort reshared her post with a caption that read, “Super Thank you for the Visit. [He’s a] wonderful and very kind person,” accompanied by heart and smiling face emojis, adding to the hilarity of the situation.
Hazel’s post quickly went viral, accumulating more than 29,000 laughing reactions, 3,300 comments, and 9,000 shares.
However, sharp-eyed netizens were quick to burst her bubble, pointing out that the man she thought was Daniel Radcliffe was, in fact, just a simple tourist.
One comment read, “Wait lang po, ate… that’s not Daniel Radcliffe po… simple tourist lang po ata ‘yan.”
In an interview with Balita, Hazel admitted that she genuinely believed she had seen the famous Harry Potter actor and asked for photo ops. She only realized her mistake after seeing the comments correcting her.
“‘Di ko na po nakita ‘yung lalaki. Talagang na-magic na po ang mga mata ko or malabo lang talaga ang mata ko,” Hazel humorously confessed.
She later discovered that the man’s real name was Josh, not Daniel Radcliffe. Fortunately, the foreign tourist took the mix-up in good humor and wasn’t offended by the attention.
Hazel clarified that she didn’t intend to deceive people with her post. She was simply in “fan mode,” swept away by her excitement.
Daniel Radcliffe, known for his portrayal of Harry Potter in the film series based on J.K. Rowling’s bestselling books, continue to be a beloved figure in the world of cinema, and this mix-up added a touch of unexpected magic to El Nido’s Las Cabanas Beach Resort.
