Provincial government’s legal outreach program offers free orientation and legal consultation in Balabac

The Provincial Legal Extension Services Program (PLESP) of the Provincial Legal Office successfully conducted a free seminar and legal consultation in the municipality of Balabac on June 5-6.

This initiative was carried out in collaboration with the local government unit of Balabac, led by Mayor Shuaib Astami, and attended by 65 participants, including barangay officials and members of the Lupong Tagapamayapa from 20 barangays.

The event covered topics such as Katarungang Pambarangay, the duties and responsibilities of government officials, the Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Act, the Anti-Child Marriage Law, and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act. Additionally, legal advice was provided to 20 individuals, addressing issues related to land disputes and birth certificates.

The program was spearheaded by Atty. Mary Joy Ordaneza-Cascara, with support from Atty. Lara Cacal, Atty. Christine Aribon, Atty. Ryan Oliver Cayatoc, and Atty. Vanessa Bautista from the Commission on Human Rights.

This outreach is part of Governor V. Dennis M. Socrates’ directive to bring legal services directly to the citizens through the PLESP.
