To meet rising traffic demands and enhance transportation efficiency, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Palawan 2nd District Engineering Office has undertaken a critical upgrade of the Parian Bridge 2 along Puerto Princesa South Road.
This development aims to improve connectivity and safety for motorists in the Municipality of Narra, Palawan.
Reported by Palawan 2nd District Engineer Noel L. Fuentebella to DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III, the project involves constructing two units of two-lane steel bridges, each measuring 9.20 meters in width and 16.40 meters in length, on both sides of the existing Parian Bridge 2. Additionally, the project includes bridge approaches with paved surfaces, a sidewalk on the right side, slope protection, metal guardrails, and solar studs along with LED street lights to enhance nighttime visibility and safety.
This 291.428 square meter bridge upgrade has effectively increased the road’s capacity, alleviating congestion and reducing travel times for motorists. The added safety features contribute to safer driving conditions, particularly at night, and the inclusion of a sidewalk provides better access for pedestrians.
The upgrade is a critical component of the region’s socio-economic development strategy, fostering a more reliable and efficient transportation network that benefits Narra, Palawan, and surrounding communities.
The improved infrastructure is expected to spur economic growth by facilitating smoother transport of goods and services, thus enhancing the overall quality of life in the region.
