Farmers and residents of Narra, Palawan are set to benefit from a new infrastructure development aimed at improving access to local markets and boosting agricultural productivity.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Palawan 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) has completed the concreting of the Brgy. Dumangueña Farm-To-Market Road, a project that promises to enhance transportation in this rural municipality.

In a report submitted to DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III, District Engineer Noel L. Fuentebella outlined the details of the 6.1-meter wide, 230-mm thick concrete road, designed to improve the flow of goods and services in the area.

The project also includes drainage facilities, which will help manage water flow, prolonging the lifespan of the road and ensuring its durability during adverse weather conditions.

The completion of this road is expected to make a significant advantage on local farmers, slashing travel time from 3.7 minutes to just 1.24 minutes.

This reduction in transit time directly translates into lowered transportation costs, less spoilage of perishable produce, and greater access to markets, creating more opportunities for farmers to increase their income.

With better roads and enhanced accessibility, the community’s economic growth is now more achievable, as goods can move more efficiently, and farmers have improved access to resources.

This project also forms part of the government’s ongoing commitment to rural development, enabling agricultural areas like Narra to thrive and connecting them more effectively to larger markets.
