The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has forecasted four tropical cyclones expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this month of October 2025.
“Two to four ang weather disturbance natin this October 2025 at dalawa na agad next week, na sa ngayon ay nasa outside ng PAR” Pajarilla meteorologist and head of the Pagasa-Palawan office said during the recent meeting of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) held at Citystate Asturias Hotel in Tiniguiban, Puerto Princesa City.
To include the remaining months of the year which is November and December 2025, Pagasa forecasted a total of nine tropical cyclones.
In a news forum recently, Pagasa said that two to three cyclones are expected this November 2025 while one or two during December 2025, this brings to a total of five to nine more cyclones expected before this year ends.
The Philippines experienced an average of about 20 tropical cyclones that form or enter the PAR each year, with approximately 8 to 9 of these making landfall in either any parts of the country.
Although, Palawan is not among the provinces in the country frequented by tropical cyclones and typhoons, but still it can impact various parts of Palawan, with the northern and central regions, including municipalities like Roxas, Taytay, Puerto Princesa City, El Nido, San Vicente, and Cuyo, often experiencing strong winds, heavy rains, flooding, and landslides. While considered less prone than other provinces and regions in the country, Palawan’s exposure to typhoons has been severe, as shown by the intensity and the widespread damage caused by Super Typhoon Odette in December 2021.
