The City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said Tuesday there has been no reported structural fire in Puerto Princesa since the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) started on March 17.
Fire Officer 3 Mark Anthony Llacuna, the BFP information officer, said it could be attributed to the people staying home attending their houses that contributed to this curb on the probability of having a house fire.
Llacuna said there were four recorded residential fires in January; three in February; and another two during first week of March prior to the implementation of enhanced community quarantine.
Llacuna stated 90 percent of the structural fires are due to having no one left to attend the house.
He further stated that while the families are at their own houses this ECQ, illegal electrical connections will make them vulnerable to flame.
Llacuna also advised the public to follow the law in their electricity connections.
He also reminded the households to always prepare buckets of water at home to use just in case of fire while their team is still on the way.
