While everyone is still under enhanced community quarantine, the group behind the face shield project launched another campaign that will help a lot of Palawenos, and this will help those who are having a problem going and buying goods from public markets in the City of Puerto Princesa.

Go Palengke is the new project of JCI Puerto Princesa Oil and JCI Puerto Princesa Kiao along with Philippine National Red Cross that will cater to the residents of Puerto Princesa, who are having a hard time going to the Public Market and in fear that they might be infected with COVID-19.

“Since nasa ECQ tayo maraming household na hindi nakakalabas, yung iba nangangamba na lumabas because of the virus, yung iba walang sasakyan dahil walang tricycle. Marami ring farmers ang nabubulukan ng paninda kaya nag come up kami ng idea na mag create ng mobilization at mag fulfilled ng digital bridge sa mga producer at consumer, para maiwasan na rin ang paglabas nila ng bahay, pansin kasi naman sa Palengke hindi nao-observe ang social distancing,” said Fheter John Calanday, the project chairman.

The project can be reached thru Facebook group “Go Palengke” as well as the site wherein online payment is available. They have six volunteers for now that will take order and buy your order regardless of the amount, and a service charge for the delivery will be added.

They will start taking orders this coming Friday, April 3 from 8 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon. Cut off of orders is at 3 o’clock and delivery will be on the next day.

Calanday said that they are still in the process of reviewing on how much the service and handling fee will be added.

They are also making up their list of partner farmers wherein they will buy fresh farm produce vegetables.

“Ang consumer ay may dalawang option, puede kang umorder sa palengke parang kami lang taga bili. At yung isa is from the farmers. Yun mas mura direct na kasi at wala ng middle man na dadaanan kundi delivery charge lang sa amin, yung fuel nila, mga disinfection nila, lalo pa pagkain yan,” Calanday explained.

The Go Palengke according to Calanday is their original project and not copy from any Jaycees org in the country today. This is inspired after their recyclable plastic face mask gained praises and following, and now being distributed to other municipalities in Palawan.

Calanday added that since they are advocating recycling, the Go Palengke will strictly implement zero plastic during the market session, and eco bag as replacement to their bags is encouraged from those who will place an order via their FB group and online site.
