Walo pang establisyemento sa bayan ng El Nido, Palawan, ang sinampahan ng reklamo ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) dahil umano sa paglabag sa batas pangkalikasan.

Ayon sa DENR MIMAROPA, ang pagsasampa ng reklamo sa opisina ng Provincial Prosecutor laban sa naturang walong establisyemento ay may kaugnayan umano sa paglabag sa Republic Act No. 11038 o ang Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System (E-NIPAS) Act of 2018. Sa nasabing batas, ipinagbabawal ang pag-okupa o kaya’y ang pagtatayo ng istruktura sa idineklarang protected areas saan mang lugar sa Pilipinas.
Ayon pa sa kanila, umabot na sa labindalawa (12) ang kabuuang bilang ng mga establisyemento sa El Nido na pormal na inireklamo dahil sa kaparehong paglabag.

Ang mga paglabag umano na ito ay may kaugnayan sa pagpapatayo, at pago-operate ng ipinatayong pasilidad sa loob ng isang protected areas nang walang kaukulang permit at clearance mula sa Protected Area Management Board (PAMB).

Binigyang-diin din ng DENR na dumaan sa tamang proseso ang pagsasampa ng reklamo laban sa mga ito. Kabilang dito ang paglabas ng Notices of Violation upang mabigyan sila ng pagkakataong magsumite ng mga kaukulang dokumento na magpapatunay ng legalidad ng kanilang pag-ukupa, at operasyon. Sinundan ito ng Cease and Desist Orders at Notices to Vacate, pati na rin ng patuloy na monitoring at validation.

Ayon pa sa ahensya, layunin umano ng hakbang na ito na tugunan ang isyung may kaugnayan sa pampublikong kalusugan at kalinisan at pangangalaga sa kalikasan, na iniuugnay sa hindi kontroladong pagpapatayo ng mga istruktura sa loob ng mga protektadong lugar.

Matatandan na apat rin na pasilidad ang nauna nang sinampahan ng parehong reklamo ng DENR dahil rin sa kaparehong paglabag.

Samantala, patuloy naman ang isinasagawang monitoring ng DENR sa lahat ng protected areas sa rehiyon upang matiyak ang wastong paggamit ng likas na yaman, maprotektahan ang kalusugan ng publiko, at maisulong ang responsableng turismo.
