OUT Of Twelve pairs, only six pairs of Palaweno rap crew advances to the first ever Blackout 10 rap battle tournament organized by Quality Control Battles last February 7 at the Soundcheck music pub in Puerto Princesa City. Around 24 of these young and upcoming rappers are from Roxas, Quezon, Taytay, El Nido, Aborlan and Narra.
The 6 pairs duel in the “Dos Por Dos” category wherein wits and skills in giving punch line in a fast speed, creativity and wordplay is the primary requirement in order for you to qualify for the next round, which is the Quarter finals, to be followed by Semi-finals and the grand finals. These six pairs are Irie and Mazino, Vikrum & Cluero, Critical & Mthugz, Saimon & Gaddi, Ak Arma & Z- Dem and Genard King with Moises.
Organizer Vince Sabuya said that the prizes and dates for the next round is not yet determined as of now. Cash prizes will be declared upon the outcome of their solicitations, while venue is still open for those who are willing to support and help the Palawan Hip-hop community.
“May mga division kami pero ano, supposed to be dapat may north na kami pero ngayon pinu-push pa lang namin, pinasolid pa namin ‘yung south which is kasama ‘yung munisipyo ng Narra at munisipyo ng Quezon at meron na rin kami sa Aborlan, hindi lang ito majority ng Puerto Princesa, ina ano naming, ini-explore namin ‘yung talent ng Palawan Hip-hop.” Sabuya said.
Aside from the pairs, individual impromptu battles also happen for 24 emcees in the said event as intermission, the group aims to give entertainment and improve the skills of Palawenos in the rap culture, the next round is expected to be held end of March.
