Sayaw sa Bangko perfomed by Indak Palawan

Be captivated by “Sayaw sa Bangko” which is a famous Filipino folk dance where the dancers showcase their skills as they dance atop a narrow bench, while constantly trading places. As opposed to competing with each other to stay on the bench, dancers complement each other to ensure that they do not fall.

Karatong with Bunga Mangaperfomed by Indak Palawan

Be awed as they perform “Karatong with Bunga Manga” which is from Cuyo, Palawan and the men use kalatong or bamboo tube about a yard long, tied horizontally below the waist and struck by two sticks to tap the rhythm of the dance. The ladies sway their colorful “bunga manga,” which are meant to represent the flowers of the mango tree while the men strike lively, syncopated beats with their karatong.

And be astonished as they perform one of the most difficult folk dances “Binasuan” where the dancers balance glass on their heads and in their hands as they move and roll-over to the ground. The glasses are filled with wine, which makes any misstep a messy mistake.

Don’t miss the opportunity to showcase your own hidden talents as guests are invited to dance toward the end of the show. Experiencing an enchanting night out filled with local cuisine, a Filipino dance performance, and a lively ambiance.

The Balayong Grill and Bar Restaurant serves a la carte meals and some grilled foods. One of that is grilled salmon belly which is done in the Yakitori style where the fish is seasoned and grilled and as the fats turn into smokes it adds more flavor to the fish.

They also have “Binusog na Pusit” which is a squid stuffed with onions and tomatoes, it is then grilled over hot coals to juicy and flavorful perfection. Best to pair it with steamed rice and spicy vinegar for dipping but it’s just as wonderful and with ice cold beer.

Overload Halo Halo En Fuego

After eating all those savory foods surely you’ll want something sweet to balance it out “Overload Halo Halo En Fuego”. This icy treat is known for its flavorful taste, with mixed beans, sweetened bananas, chunks of jackfruit (langka), gelatin, coconut meat (macapuno), and nata de coco; topped with chunks of cream caramel flan (leche flan), purple yam (ube) and a scoop of two ice cream (ube and macapuno flavor); poured with evaporated milk. A classic Filipino dessert with a twist where they serve it to you on flames.

Great cultural dance performances that would give you tidbits of the Philippine’s rich culture and heritage and a taste of Filipino cuisine can be experienced at the same time at Balayong Grill and Bar Restaurant located at Highlights info row image beside Best Western Plus the Ivywall Hotel Rizal Avenue Extension, Puerto Princesa City. The only cultural dinner show in town.
