Visual artists of Palawan are coming together to help their fellow artists who are also suffering during this enhance community quarantine, many of whom don’t have work and were not even listed to get any financial assistance from different government agencies.
BeCauseLife is an online fundraising prints exhibit that will benefit frontliners and artists in Puerto Princesa.
It will start on May 1 and will last until May 15. Nine visual artists are participating wherein they will post all their artworks in Facebook and Instagram. Most these art pieces were created digitally.
Jonathan Benitez of Palawan Artists Collective, said that the artworks are mostly graphic and digital prints that they will sell for P500 to P1,000, in order to cater the art aficionados who are also having budget constraints.
The paintings to be sold are all signed by the artists in A3 (12×18 inch) on 250 gsm paper, acid free and good quality print.
“May post kami sa Instagram at FB page. Merong link para maka-connect ang viewers starting May 1, nationwide ito by Palawan artists who do digital art, meron din based from El Nido, Cebu and Manila,” Benitez said.
BeCauseLife project, Benitez added, was an initiative by Frances Mendoza and Brenda Praico-Zabala.
“Actually yan ang process ng ibang di maka-afford ng original art dahil medyo mataas ang presyo, sa ibang bansa ito ang ginagawa-print copy lang ang ma-afford para kahit papano may collection sila ng artwork na gusto nila, signed ito ng artists limited prints only, to be shipped thru usual couriers after the ECQ,” Benitez said.
For those who want to buy and check their artworks, you may follow them at BeCause Life 2020 in Instagram and Facebook.
Around 5 pieces will be posted everyday starting May 1 and payment will be processed online too.
Aside from Benitez who became viral lately for his Bangkang Papel artwork in Eulalia Park, the other participating artists are Philipp Dinurog, Reena Gabriel, Esoj Luna, Lala Magbuhat, Frances Mendoza, Manuel Joseph Tan, James Zabala and Brenda Praico-Zabala.
