The Department of Health (DOH) urges immunocompromised individuals—-including the elderly who have metabolic disorders and other illnesses included in the list primarily released by the agency—-to get their second booster shot against COVID-19 now that the Omicron subvariant BA.2.12 has already entered the country.

This is aligned with the Public Health Advisory released by the department on its Facebook page, highlighting that boosters help protect against BA.2.12.

“The DOH thus implores the public to get boosted ASAP, as immunity is proven to wane over time. Further, all eligible immunocompromised individuals (ICPs) are likewise encouraged to get their second booster or 4th dose,” the advisory reads.

The department also reminds the public to participate in their published necessary steps in reducing the risk of transmitting the virus through: 1) Wearing of best-fitting mask; 2) Isolating when sick; 3) Doubling up protection through vaccination and boosters; and 4) Ensuring good air flow.
