Ninanais na maging handa ang bansa sa posibilidad ng pagkakaroon ng public health emergency kung kaya’t isinusulong ngayon ni Senador Bong Go ang pagkakaroon ng Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) at Medical Reserve Corps.

Sa ilalim ng Senate Bill (SB) 1180 o “Medical Reserve Corps Act of 2022”, nilalayon nitong makapagtatag ng isang Medical Reserve Corps na binubuo ng mga health workers at mga men in uniform, samantalang ang Senate Bill (SB) 195, ay napapaloob ang tungkulin ng CDC na magsiyasat, magpatupad ng mga regulasyon, pagkuha, pamamahagi ng mga bakuna, antibiotic at iba pang mga medikal na supply, at pakikipagtulungan sa iba’t ibang mga bansa patungkol sa public health emergencies.

Layon ng pagkakaroon ng Center for Disease Control (CDC) at Medical Reserve Corps ang maiwasan ang labis na pagtatrabaho ng mga health workers sa dami ng mga pasyente lalo na tuwing may public health emergency, bilang pagtugon sa mandato ng Marcos administration na mangunguna ang gobyerno sa pagprotekta sa Pilipino mula sa mga health threats.

 

Bukod dito, mariin namang nilinaw ng senador na hindi papalitan ang Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) ng Center for Disease Control o CDC, bagkus ay magpapatuloy ang RITM sa paghatid ng serbisyo sa pagcontrol sa iba’t ibang common tropical disease sa bansa.
