SIM registration, naaapektuhan dahil 65% ng bansa ang walang internet

Iba’t iba ang nagiging karanasan ng mga mamamayang gumagamit ng gadgets o cellular phones hinggil sa kanilang isinasagawang SIM registration.

Karamihan sa mga gumagamit ng cellphones sa mga panahong isinusulat ang balitang ito ay hindi pa nakakaparehistro dulot ng maraming kadahilanan na kung saan pangunahin na rito ay ang kawalan ng internet connectivity bukod pa sa kawalang kaalaman ng gumagamit ng gadgets.

 

Kaugnay nito ay nagpahayag ang pamunuan ng Department of Information Technology (DICT), marapat na magsagawa ng pagmonitor sa mga lugar sa bansa na mayroong mahinang internet connectivity para sa nagpapatuloy na SIM registration.

 

Mahigit sa dalawang linggo nang umpisahan ang SIM registration at ilang porsiyento pa lamang ang nakakapagparehistro na kung saan nasa 16,150,926 (9.56%) pa lamang ang narehistro mula sa tinatayang 168 million na active SIM.

 

Bagamat itinuturing ng DICT na test period pa lamang ang nakalipas na dalawang lingo para makapag adjust ng kanilang sistema ang mga telecom companies.

 

Ayon sa National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), may mga liblib na lugar sa bansa na hindi talaga abot ng internet kung kayat kailangan na personal silang puntahan ng mga telecom companies para ma i-register.

 

Sinabi ni Atty. Ella Blanca Lopez, OIC-Commissioner, NTC “going there, going in and out nagbabangka po sila … So kung hindi kailangan di sila lumalabas.”

 

Kaugnay nito nagpahayag naman ang Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) sa pamamagitran ni DILG Undersecretary Margarita Gutierrez agad silang nakikipag-ugnayan sa mga local government units upang masiguro na sa lalong madaling panahon ay marehistro ang SIM ng mga nasa liblib o sa mga lugar na walang internet.

 

Ayon naman kay Usec. Margarita Gutierrez, “we are coordinating with the PTES so we will be providing the actual dates kung kelan yung actual rollout kailangan po kasi ng coordination not only with the LGUs but also with the PTES.”

 

Dagdag din ng task force para sa SIM registration nakatakda silang makipagpulong sa mga telecom companies upang matukoy ang mga lugar sa bansa na walang signal upang matulungan ang mga mamamayan na makapagparehistro ng kanilang SIM.

 

Mayroon na lamang 165 days nalalabi para sa deadline ng SIM registration nguni’t nakatakda naming magbigay ng extension ang DICT kung kinakailangan.
