The Philippine Blind Union in collaboration with Palawan Precious Life Foundation, Inc. will hold free Braille Training for visually impaired beneficiaries from the City of Puerto Princesa and other municipalities of Palawan such as Taytay, Rizal, and Espaῆola to be held on April April 22 to 23, 2024, 8 AM to 5 PM at 3rd floor of Palawan Eye Center ATO Plaza Wescom Road corner National Highway, Puerto Princesa City.
The first batch of trainees will serve as beneficiaries with a diverse age group as young as ten (10) years old and the oldest is (74) seventy-four years old, a senior citizen. The participants will learn the Basic Braille alphabet and numbers, Braille reading and writing techniques, and Practical applications of Braille in daily life.
Ms. Marie Joyce C. Lopez will serve as the Braille Traineer of the two-day activities in the city. She is a Project Manager of Resources for the Blind, Inc., and is physically blind.
“Our main mission is to provide services to persons with visual impairment, we also have programs to prevent blindness and assist patients with low vision. Our approach is to establish meaningful linkages with government units to track down those who need eye care services, coordinate with community workers to implement projects, and partner with eye care specialists to provide the necessary medical assessment and treatment.” Resources for the Blind.
