A total of 9,357 families in Barangay Rio Tuba in Bataraza, Palawan received food packs from Coral Bay Nickel Corporation on Monday, April 27.
The food pack costs around 2.3 million pesos. The assistance is still part of the relief assistance for the community residents affected by the enhanced community quarantine. The said amount was taken from the Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) budget of CBNC for Barangay Rio Tuba.
This is the third time for the barangay to receive this kind of relief assistance. The first was through the combined quick response fund of Barangay Rio Tuba and Municipal LGU of Bataraza and Bayanihan Grant handled by the latter.
“This is already the 3rd time for Barangay Rio Tuba to receive this kind of assistance. Despite of everything we are still fortunate because we see that everybody works hand in hand to overcome this crisis. We have the Barangay and Municipal LGUs and the CBNC who alternately responded to the situation by giving relief assistance to each family,” said Arielit Agot, barangay kagawad of Rio Tuba.
CBNC as of to date has released a total of 9 million pesos from its SDMP fund for its relief efforts to 12 barangays and 8 IP communities in Bataraza benefiting a total of 23,000 families. The amount is expected to increase in the coming days since the community quarantine is further extended until May 15 although it was recently downgraded to general community quarantine status in the province of Palawan.
Meanwhile, CBNC is also set to provide assistance this week to the island municipality of Balabac.
