In a joint effort to bolster the Coastal and Marine Management initiatives in Palawan, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) joined hands with USAID Fish Right and GRF INSPIRE to conduct the “PGP and NGO- Partners Planning Workshop.”

This significant workshop took place on October 18, at the Hue Hotel in Puerto Princesa and was led by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg), in collaboration with USAID Fish Right and GRF INSPIRE.

The workshop attracted the active participation of dedicated individuals from various branches of the Provincial Government, including the Provincial Government-Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO), Provincial Tourism Promotions and Development Office (PTPDO), Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDO), Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs).

The primary aim of this comprehensive training was to develop a unified schedule for the effective execution of programs and activities pertaining to Coastal and Marine Management across the province.

Furthermore, discussions revolved around the list of activities planned for the last quarter of 2023.

The workshop also emphasized the strategies that would strengthen the collaborative efforts between the Provincial Government of Palawan (PGP) and NGOs in operating and sustainably managing Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and the Marine Protected Area Network (MPAN).

Other vital topics included enforcing fishery laws, supporting livelihood programs, conducting Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities, enhancing capability building, fostering research and development, and more.
