Damaged SD cards hamper transmission of Provincial Election Results

A total of 47 SD cards malfunctioned in the province of Palawan in the 2019 elections, previously 48 excluding one that has been revived without the need of replacement.

So far, 11 municipalities were not able to fully transmit election results due to this malfunctioned SD cards. These include Aborlan, Sofronio Española, Brooke’s Point, Bataraza, Balabac, Araceli, El Nido, Coron, Busuanga, Agutaya, and Cagayancillo.

As of 9 P.M. last night, the replacement SD cards arrived and the Electoral Board has been feeding the ballots to the Vote Counting Machines (VCMs).

The results from Aborlan, Sofronio Española, Brooke’s Point, Bataraza, Balabac, Araceli, El Nido, Coron, and Busuanga were expected to be transmitted later in the evening or early in the morning today. As for Agutaya and Cagayancillo, the SD cards should suppose to arrive at approximately 6:30 A.M today and it will be delivered right away to carry on to the canvassing.

In the event of one of the delivered replacement SD cards does not work, the whole process will be repeated thus, further delaying the canvassing.

“We hope all of that reconfigured SD cards will function properly. Per our observation, per our monitor, those SD cards are functioning properly,” Provincial Elections Supervisor Atty. Urbano Arlando said.
