Resolution No. 323-21 requesting Gov. Jose Chavez Alvarez to establish a slaughterhouse with the national and international standards was approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. As stated in it, the slaughterhouse is for swine, small and large animals “with cold storage facilities to facilitate marketing of meat and its by-products from the Province of Palawan to national and international markets.”
According to the author of the said resolution, Board Member Albert Rama said that it aims to help hog raisers in the province. And also expand opportunities, such as the possibility to export quality meat to other parts of the Philippines and even to other countries to improve the income of local livestock raisers.
It is also in compliance with Republic Act No. 9296 or “The Meat Inspection Code of The Philippines.”
