Provincial Infrastructure Program Head and Education Program Manager Engr. Saylito Purisima on Monday, August 23 said that the General Weighted Average (GWA) is not a requirement of the Provincial Government of Palawan (PGP) to avail the scholarship grant for those who want to be a doctor, registered nurse and other medical related courses.
According to Engr. Purisima via the “Pag-asa at Pagbabago”, of the Provincial Information Office (PIO), GWA or maintaining grade is not a requirement in the said scholarship program. All scholars need to pass all the subjects and be able to complete the medical course.
Purisima added that students who want to apply for the PGP scholarship program should only go to the Office of the Governor or the Office of the Education Program Manager. He also said that the program has no ‘political color’ and even the residents of Puerto Princesa City can apply for the PGP scholarship grant.
Purisima stressed.
Purisima explained that when a scholar does not finish the medical-related course for any reason, all PGP expenses must be returned. For those students who fail a subject, it can be retaken but at the family’s own expense. Once passed, they can continue to be a PGP scholar.
The ₱50M per year for the PGP Scholarship Program has been approved and signed by the governor which can benefit Palaweños who want to enter the field of medicine and be able to serve the people through all the Provincial Hospitals in Palawan.
