Nagbigay ang Kagawaran ng Pagsasaka-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) ng mga kagamitan at mga programa sa pagpapalakas ng kakayahan na nagkakahalaga ng P4.95M sa mga grupo ng mangingisda sa Pag-asa Island ngayong linggo. Upang palakasin ang mga mangingisda at tulungan silang ma-maximize ang kanilang huli sa Kanlurang Dagat ng Pilipinas.

Ang mga kagamitan sa pangingisda at post-harvest equipment para sa mga benepisyaryo ay dinala ng BRP Francisco Dagohoy (MMOV 5002) mula Puerto Princesa City patungong Pag-asa Island.

Ang BRP Francisco Dagohoy, isang sibilyang patrol vessel na ginagamit ng DA-BFAR para sa mga misyon sa dagat, ay magsisimula sa isang dalawang-araw na paglalakbay patungong Pag-asa Island noong araw, ng Hunyo 12, na kasabay ng ika-125 taon ng Araw ng Kalayaan ng Pilipinas.

Bago ito umalis, nagdaos ang DA-BFAR ng isang seremonya ng pagpapaalam sa Oyster Bay Naval Base sa Brgy. Macarascas, Puerto Princesa City.
