The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in Puerto Princesa said that the cold weather currently experienced might persist until February.
Allain Lusoc, Weather Observer 2 – PAGASA, said that the hanging Amihan or the north-east monsoon will last until February, which is the cause of the chilly weather currently experienced in the country.
“Hanggang February, may Amihan pa. Probably, mga first week ng March papasok ang wind from the east. Bale by February, malamig parin ang panahon natin,” Lusoc said.
Lusoc said that the coldest temperature every year is usually recorded on January to February. In Puerto Princesa, the coldest temperature, which is at 23 degrees Celsius, was recorded on January 15 and 28.
He added that the wind is currently not too strong but they are expecting hanging Amihan to intensify this weekend and suggests that the affected people, especially the sailors and the fishermen, to be cautious and be on the lookout for their gale warning.
