Rescuers from Palawan competed with those from other Luzon provinces and publicly demonstrated their readiness in responding to natural and human-induced calamities and disasters during the recent 4TH UNTV Rescue Summit in Marikina City.
From April 27-28, 2019, 10 rescuers from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and Rescue 165 of the Provincial Government of Palawan, along with other rescue units and disaster risk reduction and management offices, displayed their skills particularly their capabilities in quick and timely life-saving aptitudes during emergencies.
Marikina City is this year’s host of UNTV Rescue Summit. The competition among DRRMO and rescue units was also participated by local government units from the provinces of Camarines Sur, Cagayan, Bulacan, Nueva Vizcaya, Laguna, Bataan and Laguna.
During the competition, all the participants likewise underwent training on disaster concept and management, family disaster plans and hands on CPR, as part of their continuing capacity enhancement of the DRRM practitioners and rescuers.
Camarines Sur was declared overall winner of the competition and received the grand price worth P2-Million. Nueva Vizcaya and LGU-Balanga, Bataan ranked second and third and received P1.5 Million and P1 Million respectively. Palawan DRRMO received P50,000.00 for participating the competition.
