The Palawan Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) is eyeing the final validation and declaration of Drug Cleared Barangays throughout the province on September 30, 2021. This was after the agency’s 3rd Quarter Virtual Meeting recently.
Currently, there are 10 barangays from the towns of Taytay, Coron, Narra, Rizal and Brooke’s Point that are scheduled to be submitted to the Regional Oversight Committee (ROC) validating team that includes members from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Department of Health (DOH).
The final schedule of technical support through PADAC’s Paralegal Training for MADAC/BADACs is on October 4 to 7, 2021 at the Municipality of Linapacan was also discoursed.
This work aims to discuss the legal and technical aspects faced by apprehending officers and partner stakeholders in law enforcement related to illegal drug activities.
It will be led by experts from the Prosecutor’s Office, Palawan PPO and PDEA. It will also be attended by barangay captains, members leading the peace and order committee, Sanggunian Kabataan, operatives from the MPS and invited guests from the Marine Batallion Landing Team.
Meanwhile, the meeting also discussed the approved financial assistance from PADAC for 10 MADACs that have not been declared drug cleared which include Aborlan, Narra, Rizal, Bataraza, Brooke’s Point, Balabac, Taytay, Coron, El Nido and Culion.
Up to P50,000 in financial assistance has been set aside for the faster implementation of the Community Based Rehabilitation Program (CBRP) and Balay Silangan.
It aims to speed up the declaration of a Drug-Cleared Province for the Province of Palawan.
