The Provincial Government of Palawan (PGP) donated tablets worth ₱123M to the Department of Education (DepEd), Provincial Information Officer Atty. Christian Jay Cojamco said on Saturday, August 28.
It aims to enable students to continue studying under the “new normal” due to the COVID-19 pandemic where face-to-face classes are still not allowed by the government.
According to Atty. Cojamco, a total of 20,545 units of tablets will be distributed for Palaweño students.
“The one who will distribute is DepEd, but the tablets came from PGP po,” he added.
Based on the Division Memorandum No. 299 of DepEd Palawan, the procured tablets by the PGP will be distributed for enrolled Grade 11 and Grade 12 learners for School Year 2021-2022 in 81 Senior Highschools in the Schools Division of Palawan.
“This initiative will primarily supplement the educational needs of the learners in delivering quality education amidst pandemic,” as stated in the DepEd Memorandum.
The distribution of learning tablets for Senior High School students of inil Taha National High School in the municipality of Brookes Point, Palawan has started today, August 30.
Meanwhile, the beneficiaries of the PGP educational program will be able to receive a “Katibayan ng Pagtanggap” which contains the conditions and agreement for the use of such tablets.
